Family History

I have a new obsession! Genealogy! These are my grandparents.
Blaine C Warr and his beautiful
bride, Leona Barendregt.
She was 9 years younger than
him. Go, Grandpa! They both
passed away recently and they
are still constantly on my mind,
and of course, in my heart!
Even though Grandma suffered from
Alzheimer's, we have her siblings here
still. They have helped document and
pass on the stories of their parents.
This is Adrianus Barendregt who
came to America from Holland with
his wife, Trijntje Runia.
They ended up settling in Idaho where
they were farmers...some of their
grandsons are still there farming. :0)
This picture was from when Adrianus (on the
right) was in Ely, Nevada working the railroads
with his brothers Cornelis (left) and Simon.
Oct. 12th, 1910
This is a photo of Trijntje and Adrianus
with their first born son, Leonard.
This side of the family has an easy
trail to follow back to Holland.
My Grandpa Blaine's family wasn't as easy.
After working on it all night last night, I
have traced Blaine's line all the way to
the 1600's in England. I have a lot
more work to do, but boy do I love it!
I am using FamilySearch.org which is free
from the church and Ancestry.com which
has a monthly fee for documents.
My thanks go out to Leonard's
wife, Lois for posting these old
photos on Facebook! :0)

A perfect day!

Yesterday was Libby's special day.
Her daddy was able to give her a blessing
in church. She was awake during it and she
just stared into his eyes the entire time.
Seriously, she is one easy baby!

The Macbeth Family
They are all so beautiful.
My mom made Libby a beautiful
blessing dress, just like she made
for my girls. I love having a talented
mother. We reap the rewards, for sure!

They had a wonderful party at their house
afterward. We enjoyed ourselves immensely
and then we had to hit the road. That's the only
part that made it into a not-quite-so-perfect day.

California Again!

We headed to CA for Libby's baby
blessing. It's a very quick trip.
Of course, we headed to the
San Diego Wild Animal Park.
Brad's parents had flown in for the big day,
too. It was their first time to meet lil' Libby.

We are excited for the blessing and the party.
More to come! :0)

Mother's Intuition

As a fundraising opportunity for her New York trip,
Summer was signed up to run the Snack Shack
at her school yesterday from 3:30 (when school
gets out) until 7pm. We knew it would make for
a very long day for her, but she needs to make
the money for her trip. While running out the door
to pick up Ty and Syd, I realized I didn't have my
cell phone. Knowing that I was going to a PTO
meeting, I wasn't worried. I wouldn't be
answering the phone during the meeting anyway.
After the meeting I headed over to watch a
little bit of Sydney's basketball practice. At
around 4:00, Ty and I went to pick up our
central vac from the repair shop on the other
side of town. That's when it hit me:
"Go check on Summer." It was just a
small feeling. Nothing overpowering or
earth shattering. I asked Ty if he wanted
to go buy a treat from Summer. Of course he
did. We headed over there 3 hours before the
scheduled pick up time. As I turned into the
school, I noticed the marquee didn't say anything
about basketball games. Weird, I thought. Then
I saw it...Summer's backpack. What? Why?
Then I saw her. She was sitting all alone on
a bench in front of the office. As soon
as she saw me, the tears started to flow. A
simple scheduling mistake by her ALP teacher
led to one of the worst experiences of her life.
She had tried my cell, the house phone, and
her dad's cell from the office phone. NO
ANSWERS! I learned my lesson. I will keep
that phone on me at all times and...
most importantly....it's time to get
Summer a cell phone! All in all,
she is healthy, happy, & fine.
Just a little too scary to think
of her all alone for what could
have been 3 1/2 hours!

Is that a futerfy?

Becky (my little sister) went back to work
full time last week. She is a high school math
teacher and the mother of Libby. Since
she is so busy now, I figured that I would share
Libby's Halloween picture with all of you.
Isn't she cute!?!
She was a fairy, but Summer walked in
& saw this picture on my mom's blog and
said, "Is she a futerfy?" You see, when
my 13 yr. old was 2, she was a butterfly
for Halloween. She couldn't say the
word, and it has forever been futerfy.
We were so happy that Libby was carrying
on the tradition of futerfy's. :0)

Easier said than done!!!

Before I begin this post...
Just remember, I use this as my journal! :0)

My sister-in-law Heather asked for some
pictures of each member of our family for
a surprise Christmas gift. I have no idea what it
is for, but I did know that I don't have any good
pictures of me. That said, Sydney is home
sick today, so we headed out back and she
snapped a couple pictures of me. Here is
how I feel about the picture taking experience:

Why, oh why can't I take a decent picture???
Here's one positive....at least the background
is really pretty. :0) THE END!

Not professionals!!!

Every year we envision Picasso, Michelangelo,
and DaVinci channeling through us to carve
our pumpkins. Obviously, they have
Alzheimer's because their skills have
long since disappeared! :0)

We got our pumpkins through Bountiful Baskets
this year. That's great. $3.50 each. They were
big, nicely shaped, but the timing was all off.

We picked them up Saturday morning at 9.
We had soccer games in different cities at
10:30, 12, and 3:00. We then had to rush to get
on costumes, sprint to trunk-or-treat, and try
to smile all the while. I think that's why Syd's
pumpkin has a frown. Maybe I stressed a
little too much. Sorry kids. You did great!
